The         Project

Abstract of Paper (Postscript file)

for µSR99 conference in Les Diablerets, Switzerland, Aug-Sep 1999

This site is (and will probably always remain) under development. At the moment only a few of the planned features have been implemented, but you are welcome to sample what we have so far.

You may also want to visit the MUD (MUon Data access) site next door, where you can also access, view and even analyze µSR data from TRIUMF using only your standard Web browser. (But not nearly as elegantly as we have planned here!)

If the terms µSR or TRIUMF mean nothing to you, either you are lost in the Web searching for a way home or you should have a look at some introductory material.

For those who want to see the gory details of a work in progress, a "snapshot" of the relevant Java Classes as of mid-September 1999 (arranged by packages) can be perused here. The actual sources are not yet ready for distribution, and in fact are under massive revision as of 1 Nov 1999; but when the alpha test version is ready for release they will be available on request to µSR facility managers and group leaders.

µSR Java Software Developers   WANTED

The TRIUMF µSR User Facility is advertising a 2-year contract position for a µSR Java Software Developer to develop and manage this and other µSR software projects. If you plan to apply for this position, please study the information provided here, try out the GUI (see below) and send us your thoughts on the current state of the project, the strengths and weaknesses of its apparent conceptual design, ideas for improvement or potential integration with other IT tools. These will be treated as part of the interview process.

We are also interested in hiring a CO-OP student with Java experience to assist in this effort. Please contact us if you are a qualified student.

µSR Users!   Your input is needed!

The µSR Java GUI can now display raw time histograms; the next step is to provide all the other types of µSR time-differential and time-integral spectra. If you would like to influence this stage of this process, we would appreciate your comments and suggestions on the proposed zoo of MuSR Spectrum Types.

Try it out!     Test version 1   |   Test version 2     (both obsolete)
